Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
- 4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter, melted and cooled
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 16 slices French bread with crusts (each slice 2 1/2-inch in diameter, 1/2-inch thick)
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar for 1 minute until creamy and thick.
- Add milk, butter, vanilla, nutmeg and salt and beat well.
