Ingredients
- 1/2 pkg. Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 pkg. Cheddar cheese
- 1 bunch scallions
- 1/2 to 3/4 c. mayonnaise
- 1 loaf French bread, buttered
- 2 c. milk
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 6 1/2 to 7 c. flour
Method
- Combine yeast, shortening, sugar, salt and 3 cups of the flour.
- Heat milk to 120° to 130°.
- Add milk and beat 200 strokes. Stir in as much of the remaining flour as possible.
- Knead 10 minutes on floured surface.
- Place in greased bowl, cover with damp towel and let rise until doubled, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
