Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef steak, cut in thin strips
  • 1/4 c. cooking oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 c. water (more may need to be added)
  • 1 c. green pepper, cut in thin strips
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c. celery, chopped
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tomatoes (optional), cut in eighths

Method

  • Brown beef in hot oil. Add garlic and cook until yellow. Add soy sauce, salt and 1/4 cup water. Lower heat and cook for approximately 45 minutes (check to see if more liquid is needed). Add vegetables, except tomatoes, and cook for 15 minutes.
