Ingredients
- 1 yeast cake
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. hot mashed potatoes
- 2/3 c. lard or shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 full tsp. salt
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 c. milk (lukewarm)
- 6 c. flour (approximately)
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Put hot mashed potatoes in a roomy bowl.
- Add lard or shortening, sugar, salt and mix well. Add eggs, beat well.
- Add yeast and milk.
- Stir in the flour to make a soft dough.
- Place in a greased bowl.
- Turn over once to cover top with fat.
- Cover.
- Set in a warm place and allow to rise until double in bulk.
