Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • 1/2 c. butter or shortening
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Pour
  • boiling
  • water
  • over
  • rolled
  • oats.
  • Let stand 20 minutes.
  • In
  • the
  • meanwhile,
  • cream
  • butter with white sugar, brown
  • sugar, eggs and vanilla.
  • Beat well and add the oatmeal mixture.
  • Sift
  • the flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon; add to the mixture.
  • Beat
  • until smooth.
  • Pour in greased 9 x 12 x 2-inch deep oblong pan.
  • Bake about 40 minutes at 350°.
  • Frost with Broiled Frosting.
