Ingredients

  • 1 c. softened butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • granulated sugar

Method

  • Mix butter, confectioners sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract.
  • Blend in flour, soda and cream of tartar.
  • Cover; chill for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • Divide dough in half.
  • Roll each half to three-sixteenths inch thick on floured board.
  • Cut into desired shapes; sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • Place on greased baking sheet.
  • Bake 7 to 8 minutes, or until light brown on edges.
  • Yields about 5 dozen.
