Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 6 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 pkg. dry yeast
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Blend together sugar and shortening; add hot water.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water; add eggs, flour and salt.
  • Cover and let rise until double in bulk.
  • Stir down, cover up to 4 to 5 days.
  • Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness, cut with biscuit cutter and fold over and place on cookie sheet.
  • Brush with melted butter.
  • Let rise until double and bake at 350° until brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
