Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. mushrooms
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- juice of 1/4 lemon
- 8 slices French bread
- 1 pt. sour cream
Method
- Prepare in chafing dish.
- Wash, trim and slice mushrooms. Saute in butter over moderate heat in a covered pan for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Season with salt, pepper, oregano, nutmeg and lemon juice.
- Toast French bread.
- Reheat mushrooms in chafing dish.
- Add sour cream, stirring while it heats.
- Do not boil; cream will separate.
- Serve on bread.
- Makes 8 servings.
