Ingredients

  • 4 slices French bread (1/2-inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 ounces swiss cheese, thinly sliced
  • 2 ounces smoked ham, thinly sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method

  • Preheat panini grill to high.
  • Brush one side of each bread slice with butter.
  • Place on work surface, buttered side down, and spread with mustard.
  • On bottom halves, evenly layer cheese and ham.
  • Cover with top halves and press gently to pack.
  • In a pie plate, whisk together egg and milk.
  • Dip both sides of each sandwich in egg mixture.
  • In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  • Place sandwiches in grill, close the top plate and cook until golden brown, 3-4 minutes.
  • Sift sugar mixture over each panini.
  • Serve immediately.
