Ingredients

  • 4 onions
  • 3 large green peppers
  • 1 large red pepper
  • 5 green tomatoes
  • 10 cucumbers
  • 1/4 c. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. mustard seed
  • 1/2 Tbsp. celery seed
  • 3/4 Tbsp. turmeric
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 2 c. vinegar
  • 1 c. cold water

Method

  • Grind first 4 ingredients together, using coarse blade on grinder.
  • Drain.
  • Sprinkle with salt.
  • Let stand overnight. Drain.
  • Combine remaining ingredients.
  • Pour over ground vegetables.
  • Boil 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Put in hot jars; cover tightly with hot lids to seal.
  • Place on towel covered cupboard to seal and cool.
