Ingredients

  • pastry for 2 crust 9-inch pie
  • 6 c. apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. brandy

Method

  • Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon and brandy with melted butter.
  • Mix the mixture lightly with apples.
  • Place in pastry lined pan.
  • Cover with top crust; make slashes in top crust to allow steam to escape.
  • Seal ends and flute edges.
  • Bake in 425° oven for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 375° and continue baking for 35 to 40 minutes, or until crust is lightly brown.
