Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 12 cups flour
  • 13 cup cocoa
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 5 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 13 cup cocoa
  • 16 tablespoons butter
  • 14 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Method

  • For bottom:.
  • Cream sugar and shortening together.
  • Add eggs and beat well.
  • In separate bowl, sift flour, cocoa, and salt.
  • Add to creamed mixture.
  • Mix well.
  • Add vanilla extract and nuts.
  • Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan.
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 35 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and pour marshmallows on top.
  • Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
  • For Icing:.
  • Sift sugar and cocoa.
  • Add butter and remaining ingredients.
  • Mix well.
  • Spread on cooled cake.
