Ingredients
- 7 lb. large cucumbers
- 2 c. white lime, dissolved in 2 gal. water
- 4 1/2 lb. sugar (9 c.)
- 1 tsp. whole cloves (tie in bag with mixed spices)
- 1 tsp. mixed spices (tie in bag with cloves)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 qt. vinegar
Method
- Slice cucumbers crosswise, about 4 or 5 slices per inch. Cover with white lime dissolved in 2 gallons of water.
- Soak for 2 hours.
- Rinse well.
- Cover with clean, cold water.
- Soak for 2 hours.
- Drain, then add the sugar, cloves and mixed spices tied in bag, salt and vinegar.
- Let stand overnight in this solution (use container you cook them in).
- In the morning, put on stove and boil 35 minutes.
- Put in jars and seal.
