Ingredients

  • 1 cup bulgur
  • 1 cup lentils
  • 3 boullion cubes
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 3 large potatoes, cut in 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 14-ounce cans crushed tomatoes
  • 3 cups water

Method

  • At home: Combine and seal bulgur, lentils, boullion cubes and spices in a plastic bag.
  • At the camp site: Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add onion, bell peppers and garlic. Saute until onion is tender, about 8 minutes.
  • Add lentil-bulgur mixture and remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer until lentils are tender, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.
