Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. Mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1 large carton Ricotta cheese
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. red wine
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 to 3 lb. ground beef
  • 6 to 8 oz. Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 boxes lasagne noodles
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • Saute onion and garlic in olive oil.
  • Brown ground beef.
  • Add tomato paste, sauce, water, wine, oregano, sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer for several hours.
  • Whip an egg and add to Ricotta.
  • Layer noodles, meat sauce, Ricotta and Mozzarella in large deep lasagne pan.
  • Top with Mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Can be frozen.
  • Bake at 350° for approximately 45 minutes.
