Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. whole basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 lb. can tomatoes
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 10 oz. noodles
  • 3 c. Ricotta or cottage cheese
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced

Method

  • Brown meat; drain fat.
  • Add next 5 ingredients.
  • Simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook noodles. Combine remaining ingredients except Mozzarella cheese.
  • In a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish, layer 1/2 noodles, 1/2 cheese mixture, 1/2 Mozzarella and 1/2 meat.
  • Repeat layering.
  • Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.
