- Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Chocolate Frosting
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup nuts, chopped
Method
- Combine sugar and flour in bowl.
- Melt butter, shortening, water, and cocoa powder and brink to a boil.
- Pour mixture over sugar and flour.
- Stir well.
- Add remaining ingrdeients and stir until smooth.
- Pour into two greased and floured layer cake pans.
- Bake at 325 for twenty-five to thirty minutes.
- Cool thoroughly before frosting.
