Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 3 c. hot water
  • 1/16 tsp. red pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. powdered mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Heat oil in heavy skillet.
  • Add garlic and onion.
  • Add hamburger and cook and stir until crumbly and brown.
  • Mix tomato paste, water and seasonings.
  • Stir into meat.
  • Cover and simmer over low heat for 1 hour.
  • When served, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
