Ingredients
- 1 stick margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. Angel Flake coconut
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 5 egg whites
Method
- Cream margarine and shortening.
- Add sugar.
- Beat until smooth.
- Add egg yolks and beat.
- Add flour, alternating with buttermilk.
- Add vanilla, coconut and nuts.
- Fold in egg whites. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes in two greased 8-inch cake pans.
- Ice with Italian cream cake icing.
