Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 box seedless raisins
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or oleo
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. raisin liquid

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Cover raisins with water and bring to a boil.
  • Cool, drain and reserve 1 cup of liquid.
  • Sift flour, soda, salt and spices together.
  • Gradually add sugar to butter and cream until fluffy; add eggs and raisin liquid.
  • Beat well and pour over dry ingredients.
  • Mix well; add raisins.
  • Bake in two 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/4-inch greased and floured loaf pans for 1 1/2 hours or until done.
