Ingredients

  • 2 c. scalded milk
  • 2 heaping tsp. lard or butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cake yeast, dissolved in 1 c. lukewarm water

Method

  • Mix scalded milk, lard or butter, salt and sugar together. When cool, add eggs and cake yeast dissolved in 1 cup of lukewarm water.
  • Stir stiff.
  • Work in flour.
  • Put in warm place to rise. Knead again and put in icebox.
  • Use dough when desired.
  • Shape and let rise 2 or 3 hours before baking.
