Ingredients

  • 2 whole chickens, cut up
  • 1 1/2 qt. milk
  • 1 large onion
  • salt and pepper
  • flour and paprika
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 1 qt. light cream
  • 1 Tbsp. flour

Method

  • Melt Crisco in large frypan.
  • Season chicken with salt, pepper, paprika and flour.
  • Brown chicken.
  • Transfer chicken to large pot.
  • Saute onion.
  • Put with chicken.
  • Rinse frypan and put enough water in pot to cover chicken.
  • Cook over medium heat for about 1 1/2 hours.
  • Mix milk, light cream and flour thoroughly. Cook over medium heat until boils.
  • Pour immediately over chicken. (If too thin, add more flour.)
  • Salt to taste; sprinkle with paprika.
  • Cook until sauce thickens.
  • Serve over waffles.
