Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. hot scalded milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 to 5 1/2 c. flour

Method

  • Soften yeast in water.
  • Combine in bowl sugar, butter, milk and salt.
  • Cool to lukewarm.
  • Blend in eggs and yeast.
  • Gradually blend in flour to make a stiff dough.
  • Knead until smooth and satiny.
  • Place in greased bowl.
  • Let rise until light.
  • Divide into 3 or 4 parts.
  • Roll out, spread with Nut Filling (or poppy seed filling).
  • Roll like jelly roll.
  • Put on baking pans.
  • Let rise again.
  • Bake in 350° oven until done (about 35 minutes).
