Ingredients
- 1 c. cake flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 c. cocoa
- 1 3/4 c. hot water
Method
- Heat oven to 350°.
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa into bowl.
- Stir in milk and melted butter. Blend in nuts.
- Spread in a 9 x 9-inch square pan.
- Combine brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa and sprinkle over the top.
- Pour hot water over entire batter.
- Bake 45 minutes.
- During baking, cake mixture rises to top and chocolate sauce settles to bottom.
- Serve warm spooned into sauce dishes with whipped cream.
- Makes 9 servings.
