Ingredients
- 1 1/4 c. sugar, divided
- 1 c. flour
- 7 Tbsp. cocoa, divided
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/3 c. margarine, melted
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 1/4 c. hot water
Method
- In medium bowl, combine 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt.
- Blend in milk, butter and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Pour batter in square pan, 9 x 9 x 2-inch. In small bowl, combine remaining cocoa, 1/2 cup sugar and brown sugar.
- Sprinkle mixture evenly over bottom.
- Pour hot water over top; do not stir.
- Bake 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Let stand 15 minutes.
- Spoon sauce from bottom of pan over top of cake when serving.
