Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • food coloring

Method

  • Thoroughly mix together preceeding ingredients.
  • Stir constantly over medium heat until mixture pulls away from sides of pan.
  • Cool slightly and knead thoroughly.
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • It lasts a long time and has a better texture than commercial play dough.
  • (You may add a few drops of oil of wintergreen or cinnamon to give a pleasant aroma, but only if the children understand it's not to eat!)
