Ingredients

  • 2 (16 oz.) bags large dried limas
  • 1 (32 oz.) bottle ketchup
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 c. Grandma's molasses
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled (save about 1/4 c. bacon drippings)

Method

  • Soak lima beans overnight and drain.
  • Cook for one hour.
  • Cool and refrigerate for one hour.
  • Place chopped onion, dry mustard, bacon drippings, molasses and brown sugar mixture in saucepan and simmer about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Place with cooked limas and crumbled bacon in crock-pot and cook on low heat for about 6 1/2 hours.
  • Serves about 10 to 12.
