- 4 c. Virginia Best self-rising flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 to 2 c. buttermilk
- 2 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 c. vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 eggs
- 1 large box vanilla pudding
- 1 c. raisins (optional)
- 1 c. nuts (optional)
Method
- Beat all ingredients together.
- Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Bake at 325° for 1 hour.
- Makes 2 loaves and 3 starters.
- Store starter at room temperature; do not seal and do not refrigerate.
