Ingredients

  • 2 1/2-3 lbs round steak, cut in thin slices
  • 1/2 cup onion, minced
  • 3 T butter
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb sliced white or button mushrooms
  • 2 cans undiluted cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups sour cream*
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Egg noodles

Method

  • Saute onion in butter; add beef and garlic and saute until beef is browned.
  • Add mushrooms and saute just until beginning to soften.
  • Add cream of chicken soup, sour cream and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Simmer GENTLY for 10 minutes. Do not boil - sour cream will curdle!
  • While Stroganoff is simmering, cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and add a small amount of butter to keep noodles from sticking.
  • Serve Stroganoff on top of egg noodles.
