Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. cold water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • nuts, chopped (any type, any amount)

Method

  • Place sugar, corn syrup and water in pan over low heat.
  • Stir until sugar is dissolved, then cook to soft ball.
  • In a bowl, beat egg whites until stiff.
  • Pour 1/2 of cooked syrup mixture over egg whites and continue to beat.
  • Cook the other half of syrup mixture until hard ball and then add gradually to the syrup and egg white mixture.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Beat until thick enough to drop from spoon.
  • Add nuts and drop on wax paper.
