Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 3/4 c. orange juice
  • 1 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 1/2 c. fresh (or possibly frzn) cranberries

Method

  • Sift first 5 ingredients into large bowl.
  • Cut butter into mix till crumbly.
  • Add in egg, juice and peel all at once.
  • Stir till mix is proportionately moist.
  • Mix in raisins and cranberries.
  • Spoon into greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 5 or possibly 10 min, or possibly till tester comes out clean.
  • This bread tastes better and slices easier the second day when cool.
