Ingredients

  • 4 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 c. butter or oleo
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. chopped nuts
  • 8 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. McCormick pure vanilla

Method

  • Cream sugar and shortening.
  • Add eggs and mix well.
  • Add nuts and vanilla.
  • Sift together flour, cream of tartar and baking soda.
  • Add to
  • mixture and mix well.
  • Roll into long rolls. Refrigerate at least overnight.
  • They should be rolled in aluminum foil while refrigerated.
  • When ready to bake, take out one roll at a time.
  • Cut in slices and bake at 350° until done, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Will appear a little undone.
  • This makes a big batch.
