Ingredients

  • 1 pound sauerkraut
  • 1 medium onion - chopped
  • 2 tbs butter or olive oil
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup reconstituted dried mushrooms
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Method

  • Rinse and Drain sauerkraut add fresh water and cook sauerkraut till soft
  • Saute onion in butter/olive oil;
  • Sautee mushrooms in butter/olive oil
  • Add sauted onion and mushrooms to sauerkraut
  • Cook for another 30 minutes till flavors are throughout
  • Drain all juice from sauerkraut mixture
  • Finely chop the sauerkraut mixture
  • Fill pierogies using the pierogi dough recipe
