Ingredients

  • 2 c. Honey Grahams cereal
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 c. butter, melted
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/3 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Mix slightly crushed cereal, nuts, brown sugar, butter and 2 tablespoons of flour.
  • Pat into ungreased square baking pan (9 x 9 x 2-inch).
  • Heat chocolate and Crisco in 2-quart saucepan over low heat.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread over layer in pan.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Loosen edges from pan.
  • Invert on wire rack.
  • Cool completely.
  • Cut into bars (about 2 x 1 1/2-inch).
  • Yields 24 bars.
