Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cup finely chopped or grated raw apple. ( I like grated granny smith apple)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 for the glaze
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 2 cup powdered sugar

Method

  • Blend the first 12 ingredients together until fluffy
  • Scoop a tablespoon full on to a parchment paper covered baking sheet for each cookie
  • Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 min
  • For the glaze melt the butter and mix with the milk and powdered sugar and stir or blend until smooth.
  • Let the cookies cool then drizzle the glaze on them.
  • Then let them set for awhile.
