Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. light molasses
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
  • 1/2 c. hot water

Method

  • In a medium bowl, sift dry ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, beat wet ingredients until well combined.
  • Gradually beat in flour mixture until smooth.
  • Pour into a lightly greased and floured 8 x 8 inch baking pan.
  • Bake at 375° for 25 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
