Ingredients

  • 3 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green beans
  • 1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 c. light cream
  • 3/4 lb. sharp cheese
  • 1/8 tsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
  • 15 oz. can water chestnuts
  • 1/2 c. toasted almonds

Method

  • In saucepan, saute mushrooms and onions in butter or margarine.
  • Add flour and cook until smooth.
  • In double boiler, heat milk and light cream to warm, but not boiling.
  • Add mushrooms and onions and stir constantly.
  • Add sharp cheese, Tabasco sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper and monosodium glutamate. Simmer until cheese is melted.
