Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. soft bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 1/3 c. packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 c. dark raisins
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 c. coarsely crumbled gingersnaps
Method
- Combine ground beef with egg, bread crumbs, 1/4 cup water, onion and salt in bowl; mix well.
- Shape into 1-inch balls.
- Bring 1 1/2 cups water to a boil in saucepan.
- Stir in bouillon cubes, brown sugar, raisins, lemon juice and gingersnap crumbs.
- Add meatballs.
- Simmer 10 minutes.
- Turn over meatballs and baste with sauce.
- Simmer 10 minutes longer.
- Makes 6 servings.
