Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
Method
- Mix margarine and sugar until fluffy.
- Add salt, vanilla, egg, cream of tartar, soda and baking powder.
- Mix well.
- Add flour and mix well.
- Refrigerate at least two hours.
- Make small balls about the size of walnuts.
- Flatten on cookie sheet with bottom of glass that has been dipped in sugar often.
- Do not grease or oil cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375° for 8 minutes.
- Remove from cookie sheet at once.
- Frost if desired.
- Cookies freeze well in plastic bag.
