Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. ice water
Method
- In a bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle with vanilla and stir in 1 tablespoon of water at a time, stirring until pastry holds together.
- Shape into a ball on a lightly floured surface; roll the dough to 1/8-inch thick.
- Transfer to a 9-inch pie plate and trim and flute edges.
