Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 (6 oz.) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. chopped nutmeats

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Melt margarine and add to it the brown sugar, vanilla and egg yolk.
  • Beat until fluffy.
  • Add the flour and blend together.
  • Mixture will be quite thick.
  • Spread into a lightly greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and put back in oven for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with nutmeats.
  • Cut while warm.
  • Makes about 2 dozen bars.
