Ingredients

  • 6 c. sliced cukes
  • 1 c. sliced onions
  • 2 c. white vinegar
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. pickling salt
  • 2 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. mustard seed
  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)

Method

  • In large saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar and seasoning. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • Meanwhile, place one clove of garlic in each jar (1 quart); pack cukes and onions into jars.
  • Fill jars with hot vinegar mixture.
  • Helps to use a funnel and soup ladle.
  • Replace lid, then cool in refrigerator for at least 24 hours to blend flavors.
  • Stores in refrigerator up to 3 months.
  • Give them to your friends.
