Ingredients

  • 12 to 16 slices bread
  • 1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 2 c. diced, cooked ham
  • 1 large can mushroom pieces
  • 2 c. grated Swiss or Mozzarella cheese
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 1 1/3 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. crushed cornflakes

Method

  • Grease 9 x 13-inch pan; trim crust from bread.
  • Butter bread; place in buttered pan, buttered side down (use 1/2 of the bread). Spread Cheddar, ham and mushrooms in layers over the bread.
  • Cover with second layer of bread, buttered side down.
  • Place grated Swiss on top.
