Ingredients
- 1 lb. hot sausage
- 6 slices bread, cubed
- 1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 c. milk
- 6 eggs
- 1 tsp. salt (optional)
- pepper to taste
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
Method
- Brown sausage and drain well.
- In a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish, layer bread, sausage and cheese.
- Repeat, using the remaining bread, sausage and cheese.
- Slightly beat the eggs (I use a wire eggbeater) in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the salt, pepper and dry mustard.
- (I sift the dry mustard as I add it; it is hard to blend.)
- Beat to blend.
- Add the milk.
- Beat again and pour over the layers.
