Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 3/4 c. finely chopped blanched almonds
- 1 1/4 c. grated milk chocolate (5 oz. bar)
- 1 c. finely chopped walnuts
Method
- In large heavy pan, cook over medium heat first 5 ingredients, stirring constantly until a teaspoon of syrup in cold water forms a brittle mass (285°).
- At end of cooking time syrup will be thick and amber color.
- Be careful not to scorch.
- Keep heat low.
- Pour at once into jelly roll pan (15 x 10 x 1-inch).
- Spread evenly. Cool 5 minutes.
- Then sprinkle with grated milk chocolate (5 ounce bar) in even layer.
- When heat has melted chocolate spread, then pat and sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts in even layer.
- Break into pieces.
- Makes 2 pounds of crunch.
