Ingredients
- 4 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. light corn syrup
- 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1 c. broken nuts
Method
- Place in saucepan over low heat sugar, corn syrup and water. Stir only to mix the ingredients, then cook without stirring to 255°.
- Beat egg whites until stiff.
- When temperature of 255° is reached, remove from heat and pour, beating constantly with electric mixer, in a fine stream into the stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Continue beating until mixture holds its shape and loses its gloss.
- Add vanilla and nuts.
- Spread in buttered 9 x 12-inch pan or drop quickly by teaspoon onto waxed paper.
