Ingredients

  • 6 c. apples, pared and sliced
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, divided
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 c. corn oil margarine, softened
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. Quaker oats
  • 1 qt. vanilla ice cream

Method

  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Spray an 8-inch baking dish.
  • Place half of the apples in dish; top with corn syrup.
  • Add remaining apples, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Combine 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, sugar, salt, margarine, flour and oatmeal.
  • Mix and press firmly over apples.
  • Bake 50 minutes.
  • To serve, top with ice cream or frozen yogurt.
  • Serves 10.
  • Can be refrigerated and baked later.
