Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan. Beat brown sugar and butter or margarine until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  • Add flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; mix well.
  • Add dates and stir well.
  • Spread into greased pan.
  • Sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
  • Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
