Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 c. snipped dates
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. dairy sour cream
  • 1/4 c. light molasses

Method

  • Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Stir in rolled oats, walnuts and dates.
  • Combine the beaten egg, sugar, sour cream and molasses.
  • Beat well. Add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
  • Place in 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf dish.
  • Bake in moderate oven at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Remove from dish and cool on rack. Cut in thin slices to serve.
  • Makes 1 loaf.
