Ingredients
- 4 (1/4-pound) cubed steaks
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 4 (1/4-inch-thick) slices onion
Method
- Brush steaks with milk. Combine flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge steaks in flour mixture, coating well.
- Heat shortening in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Brown steaks on one side until golden brown. Turn steaks, and place a slice of onion on each piece. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 25 minutes. Cook, uncovered, an additional 5 minutes.
